19th National Conference of the FHNO Conference

The 19th National Conference of the Foundation of Head and Neck Oncology (FHNO) was recently held at the Leela Palace in Chennai. It was a part of the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncology Societies’ (IFHNOS) 2019 World Tour.

Many groundbreaking scientific papers were presented at the conference. Dr Jatin P Shah of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City gave the keynote address at the conference. He is amongst the world’s preeminent Head and Neck Oncology surgeons. He spoke on “Prognostication in Oral Cancers: TMN and Beyond.

Expert in Craniofacial Surgery Chairs Keynote Address

Dr SM Balaji, a leading Chennai-based Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgeon was chosen to chair his session. The session delved in depth regarding the classification of tumors and ongoing research on improving existing systems. This was followed by a lively question and answer session with active audience participation.

Participation of Leading Oncologists from Around the World

Leading oncologists from around the world who are at the forefront of the war against cancer were present at the conference. This conference was used as a platform to share latest developments in cancer research around the world.

Amongst them were Dr Joanne Patterson of Newcastle University, Dr June Corry of Peter MacCallum Cancer Center in Australia, Dr Joseph Califano of the University of California in San Diego, Dr Barbara Wollenberg of the University of Lubeck in Germany, Dr Arvind Krishnamurthy of the Adyar Cancer Institute and Dr C Rayappa of Apollo Cancer Hospitals in Chennai.

The conference was a resounding success with new friendships being formed and old bonds being strengthened among the eminent medical specialists who were in attendance at the conference.
